Last week, Sara Village School virtually attended the Global Empathy Awards Ceremony. SVS was one of three primary schools in the world shortlisted for the Outstanding Primary Award, which they won last year.
During the 2022-23 academic year, in addition to their regular empathy lessons that covered topics such as handling different emotions, bullying, immigration and being different, SVS students participated in Empathy Week.
During Empathy Week, students watched videos exploring the lives of people in Nepal, and followed the lives of two school teachers in the city and a remote indigenous community.
After following their stories, our students learned how different life can be in different parts of the world, and gained an appreciation for the opportunities available to them.
For their Empathy in Action Project, the students collaborated to plan and produce a family-friendly event that raised awareness and to support their new friends in Nepal. Their compassion, teamwork and creativity went a long way in making a difference in the community.
Congratulations to the staff, teachers and students at Sara Village School for all their efforts in making SVS a kind, caring and compassionate community.
